On The Rocks, With Salt (in my wounds)

Another dia libre! My day off was yesterday, weather was on my side, and I got another fun beach day out of it. Hooray! Annette, Kiley, Danny, AB, and I trekked out to Playa Madera-- another surfer's paradise. We get there and the waves were pretty intense and going in every direction. Lucky for me, there were some nice rocks to go climb on, with tide pools. Did I say lucky for me? Because sure enough I ate shit and slid down those rocks on my ass and stomach and elbows and knees! TWICE! I was just about to turn around to get my camera to come back for some pics, and before I knew it, I was on my butt, covered in mud and algae, and maybe hermit crabs. I got scraped and banged up pretty bad, and once I realized I didn't die, I busted up laughing for about 5 minutes. On my way back to Annette, I noticed some more green algae on the rocks, and before I could step the other way, I was already on my ass again. It was hilarious.

Check me out going for a surf!

Just kidding. That's Kylie. But those are the rocks that I became pretty intimate with in the horizon. I had even mentioned to Annette "Man, those rocks look like a fun water slide". THEY WERE, SORT OF.

I eventually got convinced to try surfing, but just in the little waves out front. The salt water on my scraped knees was exhilarating, as was the whiplash I got every time I fell off the board. MAN, it was exhausting and so not my thing. (Today I feel like I got into a car accident or something). I tried it about 5 times. One of those times, I think I managed to have both feet on the board for a whole second. I'm really glad I tried it, and I miiiiight maaaybe try it again. Needless to say the Toña and fish tacos were the best part.

Then later, hit up some poolside at the Pelican resort. This is where I don't live:

The accomodations there are so sweet, people refer to Palermo (where I live, in the villa, mind you) the favelas. (Yep, slums). Funny.

More funny. An actual Aussie (Danny) playing an actual didgeridoo.

Fun dia libre!
